ABOUT ME

I'm Sonia Chivarar

Sonia delves into design sculptures, acrylic paintings, polymer clay, and papier mâché on glass.

My initial contact with art happened around three decades ago back in Eastern Europe, where I have had the opportunity to meet and work with some of the most interesting and talented colleagues. Gradually, while my life has taken various paths, art remained a constant and treasured companion.

Being born in Transylvania and having spent a lengthy first part of my life on the steps of Dracula’s castle and its surroundings has fed me the passionate thirst to delve into the mystique world with multiple cultural nuances. Hence, this is reflected as a source of inspiration in my work. All these allowed for a stance towards crowded mixtures of primitive inspired colors, tridimensional geometrical shapes, and asymmetric patterns of shapes that act as a brain stimulant as being part of my art vision.

I constantly test new dimensions in style, art movements and materials. I explore the realm from one extreme to another, in ways that if one day I work with light and bright colors, the second day I find myself into the dark side of a color palette. I find contrasts to be unique and a great catalyst in my artistic expression. My way of satiating the passion within is by designing imposing Vikings, mystifying and cryptic tribal faces, and symbolic and enigmatical creations. I do that by using unique modeling techniques on bottle and vases of various shapes.

In addition, the beauty of nature is another dimension, which I explore as a source of inspiration in my one of kind pieces of art. The complexity found in nature have been giving me the possibility to play with shapes and plunge from one art movement to another, or even combine them. Thus, my floral designs reflect Victorian style, Art Nouveau and Art Deco, which in return have been combined in order to create astonishing pieces of art.

My creative inner self-experience determines what the final artwork will look like. This is the epitome that shapes my art pieces with a unique embellishing design capturing the purity and transparency of soul reflection.
